I've been giving the blog a gentle tweek - to my eye it still looks very cluttered - and part of that process is to succumb to joining Twitter. I'm not sure that I 'get' what it's all about; it seems to me a bit like eavesdropping on someone's phone conversation and then being able butt in which seems a tad impolite.On the other hand, it can be quite fascinating to read what random thoughts are floating around tweetland. Just this morning, for example, Emma Cooper has had the builders in, Mark Diacono has been drinking a foul tasting watermelon smoothie, Dawn Isaac is painting her children's bedroom and Alys Fowler is geeking out on scientific research. So, a sort of virtual chat over virtual coffee is taking place - or is it the internet version of Big Brother? Put that way, I'm so going off it already. Back to my books, methinks. (Although please feel free to Tweet me if you so wish. The button is there, top right. I will join you over a cuppa.)
I haven't succumbed to Twitter or Facebook, I spend enough time online as it is. Pinterest sounds interesting but I'm staying well away from that too, I keep reading about how addictive it is.

ReplyDeleteI'm not on Facebook or Twitter. Neither has appealed. But then I never thought I'd have a blog. I'm not sure I understand twitter. I feel I should because I don't want to feel out of touch when I'm only in my thirties but then the other, rebellious part of me thinks I don't want to get involved in something I can't be bothered with. Although I have to say it was interesting reading what the people you mentioned were up to. You'll have to keep us posted on how you find it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a great fan of Twitter either. I use it as a way of advertising the posts on my blog, but that's about it. "Tweeting" / "Twittering" is something I associate with people who have too much time on their hands. Most of the tweets I see are vacuous and uninteresting to anyone but closest friends or acquaintances.

ReplyDeleteLove Facebook....but really hate their software and how difficult it can be to try to do something new. Twiitter. I'm on there and I follow a few people...but not sure I see the point. The tweets have to be so short, it is almost useless. Example: this would have been too wordy for twitter.

ReplyDeleteI have recently joined Twitter but like Mark mainly to promote by blogs - but there are also some interesting articles that are flagged and it is a way of finding like minded bloggers through their tweets. But it does seem a bit nosey reading through other people's conversations.

ReplyDeleteI can vouch for how absorbing Pinterest is! I find there is a compulsion to see what others are pinning and it takes great resolve to turn away from the computer!

ReplyDeleteI use Facebook for the same reason Becky - and it means that my family (who use facebook more than reading blogs) also keep up with the blog. I think many people feel Twitter and Facebook are interchangeable!
