ReplyDeleteI agree that they're very beautiful creatures but even urban foxes are wild - sometimes people in cities forget this and leave food out for them (like one of my neighbours) which, in my opinion, is not good. This little chap is actually afraid of the large black cat that usually roams the car park!
ReplyDeleteHope your onions were not on the menu! I used to see far more foxes when we lived in the city than I ever do now.
ReplyDeleteJanet, I agree - when I lived on the coast, it was a lucky sighting if I saw foxes playing down by the sea at night and here we have a daylight visitor! Thankfully this fox's attentions were not on my veg this time!
ReplyDeleteI love foxes. I know they can wreak havoc in veg patches, but they're beautiful creatures. I've been catching up on the posts I missed while I was on holiday and see you have been away yourself. It looks like a lovely place, there's so many wonderful places in the UK that there's really no need at all to travel abroad. I've just realised that my hubby, who's a sun worshipper, would disagree with me.
ReplyDeleteHello Jo, the foxes have been a cause for concern in the past but this year I covered the newly sown seeds with cheap netting - it worked a treat! If only I could find a solution to their night howling! Holidays are nearly over and I always enjoy having seen a bit more of the UK, even if the weather isn't always great.
ReplyDeleteAs a chicken keeper I probably shouldn't like foxes, but, like them I do.

ReplyDeleteI used to like foxes. Until one came bold as anything during the day and ate my entire flock.
Karen (Garden Smallholder), as an exile to the countryside, you've seen the best of both! ... and, if you keep your chickens safely out of reach, there's no reason not to like both.
ReplyDeleteMrs B, that's dreadful. You don't expect them to attack in daytime - it must have been very hungry or had been staking out your flock for a while. You have my sympathies.
Hi Caro - am glad to have found your blog and am looking forward to hearing more of your exploits :) How have your onions fared? I know that they are poisonous to dogs and cats so hopefully they'll be left alone by their cousins as well :)
ReplyDeleteTanya, hello and welcome! So lovely when visitors comment and I'm pleased to say that my onions weren't of interest to my midday visitor! Nevertheless, I've covered the racks with a tunnel cloche and plastic sheeting to keep out visitors and rain - just in case... I didn't know they were poisonous to cats, a good fact to know. I wonder if it would stop the cats leaving 'souvenirs' in the borders? Worth a try.
